Spring Fling Style

Spring has well and truly sprung and the time has finally come to dust off those florals and dig out your sandals.

The most integral part of any spring outfit, of course, is those all important peeper protectors....or sunglasses, if you like. There are plenty of them around the W1 area, both in the shops and sported by the shoppers, in a variety of size and hue.

This year the trends pay homage to the forties siren and sixties waif, with dramatic cat-eye and oversized plastic designs. Liberty currently stocks a vintage inspired array of bold designs, including the Alexander Wang for Linda Farrow line. This plastic fantastic collection wouldn’t look out of place on the likes of Lady Gaga, but is the perfect, eye-catching choice for the fashion conscious.

For those of a vintage persuasion, Jeepers Peepers at Topshop, Oxford Circus, is the ideal proprietor of sunnies with a seventies shape and print. Prices range from £15 to £25, making them an affordable fashion fix to spruce up your spring collection.

If you fancy treating yourself, then Miu Miu’s red glittering ‘noir’ style eyewear will ensure that you make a statement in the sun. Priced at £225 and available from Liberty, Great Marlborough Street W1, they provide a quirky yet classy style injection, www.miumiu.com.

Continuing the vintage theme, Spitfire at Lazy Oaf’s collection sports unisex styles in tortoise shell, gold and black. The juxtaposition of sharp edges against a circular frame creates a modern twist on a classically vintage style, creating the perfect combination for spring/summer 2012. Lazy Oaf can be found at 19 Fouberts Place, W1.

The Kirk Originals flagship store, which is located at 6 Conduit Street, plays host to a vibrant collection of stand-out specs. Sister’s particular favourite is ‘Sunbeam Angel’ in amethyst.

Now that the sun is finally out the shoppers of W1 have already started rocking their sunglasses; we took a few snaps of the ones that Sister spied whilst out and about.

Yohji Yamamoto

Melissa came over oriental and turned Japanese for the evening, attending an exclusive preview of the new Yohji Yamamoto exhibition at Fashion Space Gallery – Yohji Yamamoto at Work. The exhibition follows the design process of a single garment, in reverse from the finished dress and catwalk show back through to the raw fabric. The exhibition was fascinating and visually pleasing, always a good combination, definitely worth checking out!

The Wolsey Boat House opens for Summer

We're loving the new SS 11 samples from heritage brand Wolsey that have just landed at Sister tower's showroom. It's all about playing on the river and bringing a touch of the country to the city this season. We've already picked out the preppy jersey knit cardigan, slim line cricket jumper (now we can dress the part for our own ashes series) and perfect accessory for every (style setter) man about town this Summer - sailor themed flat cap in pale blue.  Now we're all in the mood for a spot of sailing on the river, pimms in hand and summer playlist on . Bring on the Summer! www.wolsey.com
